Intro to Your Learning Community

The Learning Community (LC) is the heart of Jump Start - a small group of fellow first-year students, all from the same faculty, connected to two upper-year students and a professor. Everyday in Jump Start, youll meet with your LC to explore the academy from a disciplinary perspective, engaging in questions like how to learn at university and how to work alongside professors and students to make your learning meaningful for you. This is your first opportunity to connect with your LC, learn about the upcoming programming at Jump Start, and, most importantly, get to know the people with whom youll share the week and your UBC experience with.

Indigenous Student Welcome Lunch

The Indigenous Student Welcome Lunch is an exciting opportunity for new and returning Indigenous students to gather and connect over great food. All Indigenous students are welcome to come to one or both of the Lunches being offered this week!

Campus Experience is an opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with your future classes, campus, and the opportunities that lie ahead. IBPOC Get Connected Event

Curious what it is like to be navigating campus as a IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and all people of colour) student? Are you wondering where to meet other IBPOC students or how to get involved in clubs and groups on campus? Then you are invited to our next BIPOC Get Connected, with amazing FREE FOOD, and a phenomenal student panel who will share experiences, student advice, and helpful resources!

Meet the Forestry Student Services team, who will share some key information related to courses, registration, academic supports, and involvement opportunities within the Faculty of Forestry. Following this presentation, students will have an opportunity to meet with an academic advisor if they have any remaining questions regarding their course schedule and registration.

All new and current self-identifying Black students are invited for a panel discussion where you will hear from Black faculty or stafff members and students in a facilitated discussion. Are you ready for your first ever UBC Thunderbirds game? Cheer on the UBC Womens Soccer team as they battle it out against Douglas College. Kick-off is at 7 pm. Customize your Jump Start experience and choose a workshop of your interest to learn more about essential campus resources, supports and opportunities. These sessions are crafted to equip you with tools to navigate your first year successfully and connect with your new UBC community! Friday Funday Indigenous Student BBQ

Our International Student Advisors will lead you though an interactive session on what you need to know about immigration requirements, working in Canada, and how to make the best use of your health insurance plans. Join thousands of other new-to-UBC students from all faculties at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sport Centre! Celebrate the start of the academic year and hear from featured speakers. It’s the beginning of a new adventure! Please note that this is a large, indoor event with loud noises and strobing lights.
Main Event

Visit hundreds of booths along Main Mall hosted by UBC student groups, clubs, and UBC services. Chat with group representatives, sign up for clubs, or take part in activities throughout the fair.

Things to note
Time Zone: The schedule is displayed in Pacific Daylight Time.
In case it rains: If it's raining on the morning of Imagine UBC you will still be meeting your Orientation Group in the same location.
Things to bring: Water bottle, snacks, walking shoes, a rain jacket (just in case), a backpack, pen and paper.
