We’re excited to be offering a variety of social events each evening! We hope these socials help you get to know your Learning Community, meet students outside your Faculty, find peers that share common interests with you, and connect with senior leaders, campus clubs, groups and resources.

Note: All social events except the First Community Meeting and Cookie Social (mandatory) require preregistration.Registration will open at 5:00pm on the day of each social. Please use the link in the event description to sign up.

Get ready to get your skate on! Whether you're an avid skater or just a beginner, this opportunity will give you the chance to get on the ice! Free equipment rentals will also be provided, subject to availability. All levels welcome.

Shoot some hoops or smash some birdies at the Student Recreation Centre (SRC). Stop by the SRC to work on your ball game and meet some new people! Or if you want to hit around a birdie and play badminton, this is the perfect drop-in for you. Open to all levels.

Tote Bag Painting, Vanier Ballroom

A tote bag is a great way to carry your books and stationery to class, or a sustainable shopping bag! Decorate and personalize your own at our tote-bag painting night, while supplies last.

Are you ready for your first ever UBC Thunderbirds game? Cheer on the UBC Women's Soccer team as they battle it out against Douglas College. Kick off is at 7 pm. This event is free for all Jump Start participants! Show your school spirit and wear your UBC merch! Note: Please do not bring any bags to this event.

Build and decorate your own mindfulness colouring book. Choose your cover, and the designs to add to your book. Bind your book together and decorate the front cover. Save your book for later in the term or hang out and colour together with us.

Join us for a thrilling cosmic adventure under the stars as we present a movie screening of "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the NEWLY RENOVATED Norm Theatre! Immerse yourself in the intergalactic world of Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Drax, and Groot as they team up for an epic mission to save the universe!

Music Production

Have you ever pictured yourself in a music studio? Check out UBC Music Production Club’s social to try your hand at some collaborative beatmaking and music trivia! No experience is required.

Yoga, SRC Studio Map

Time to get bendy and relieve stress! Appropriate for all skill levels, this gentle Yoga class emphasizes moving safely and intentionally through postures while staying connected to your breath. Yoga mats are provided at the SRC Studio.

Stargazing with the Astronomy Club

Meet the UBC Astronomy Club for a scenic night of stargazing! The Astronomy Club will be bringing their telescopes, please treat them with care while taking in the beautiful views.

Lane Swim, Community Swim, Steam, and Sauna, UBC Aquatic Centre Map

Get your swim on! This is your chance to see the different amenities that the UBC Aquatic Centre provides and get a dip in as well! Drop-in for this event but ensure you bring your UBC Student card to access the facility. All levels welcome. Arrive and change from 8-8:30pm, the pool will be accessible from 8:30-9:30pm.
