Parent Resource Fair – Sunday, August 27th from 2-5pm PST at the Great Hall inside the UBC Nest Building (3rd floor)

Come check out your campus and faculty resources! Representatives from various groups on campus will be available for you and your parents/guardians to engage with and ask questions.

David Cummings Insurance Services Ltd

DCIS representatives will be present to answers questions about both MED - Mandatory Health Insurance for UBC's New International Students and alternative health insurance options for the BC MSP waiting period for domestic students who are new to BC and returning international students who do not get iMED.

First Nations House of Learning

The Longhouse is a place for building community, connection, and support for the growth and transition that happens in our lives. The Longhouse at UBC has many different roles: the First Nations House of Learning provides student services for Indigenous students, Indigenous Student Collegium is available to all students who self-identify as an Indigenous person, and the Xwi7xwa (pronounced whei-wha) Library hosts library collections focused on First Nations in BC and Indigenous people across what is now known as Canada. You can ask questions about renewing your study permit, what you need to work while studying, what you need to see a doctor; they are your go-to resource. Irving K. Barber & the Chapmans Learning Commons 
Will be in attendance at the Fair

The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (IKBLC) is a learning hub on campus! Students can visit the Chapman Learning Commons (CLC) Assistants at the Help Desk on Level 3 to speak with a peer about learning support, including campus learning resources and key learning skills at university. Students can borrow a variety of equipment, and get technology support from a peer with the printers and computers in our space, as well as software including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Canvas, Zoom, and other common learning technologies. Sexual Violence & Prevention Office 

The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO) is a confidential place for those who have experienced, or been impacted by, any form of sexual or gender-based violence, harassment, or harm, regardless of where or when it took place. SVPRO aims to be a safer space for all by respecting each person’s unique and multiple identities and experiences. All genders and sexualities are welcome. Sustainability 

UBC’s Declaration on the Climate Emergency recognizes the urgency of the climate crisis that we are facing as a global community and the University’s role in advancing positive social changes to combat its impacts. Students have access to resources and information on sustainability at UBC through learning about the Climate Emergency 101 and ways to Take Action at UBC.  Furthermore, there are lots of ways to integrate sustainability-related content into studies at UBC with over 600 sustainability and climate-related courses, over 60 sustainability-related programs, and over 400 faculty investigating sustainability-related topics at UBC.
