    AMS Firstweek is a two-week orientation that hosts over thirty events that cater to a range of interests and dynamics. We know how confusing your first week can be so we’re here to share all that UBC and Vancouver have to offer, right at your fingertips. For your first-year essentials and an all-access wristband, which gives you entry to most events, buy your Firstweek Kit and be worry-free in your transition to university!

    Unlocking your study permit: Tools for success as a UBC international student
    This event is highly recommended for all international students.

    Arriving after orientation? Join Late Start International Welcome as our International Student Advisors take you through an interactive session on how to unlock the benefits of your study permit, understand what you need to work in Canada, and make the best use of your health insurance plans. You’ll take away a series of tools that you can use in your first year and beyond.

  • September 14

    Homecoming is the perfect way to have some fun with the UBC community, take part in campus traditions, and cheer on the UBC Thunderbirds.

    Participate in free recreation classes and sample the many ways you can stay active through UBC Recreation's Free Week!

  • September 17

    Aboriginal students are invited to the First Nations House of Learning Welcome BBQ to connect with the Longhouse community and the many resources offered.
