Welcome to the Black Student Orientation.
The UBC Black Student Space is excited to welcome all incoming Black undergraduate and graduate students to the Black Student Orientation on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The orientation is a welcoming space for new students to start building community and to get to know UBC’s Black Student Space.
What to Expect:
- Student Panel – Hear strategies for finding community as a Black student at UBC, along with insights and advice for a successful transition that reflect lived experiences.
- Dinner & Networking – Connect with peers, faculty, and staff over a delicious meal.
- Campus Resources & Groups – Learn about UBC resources and services, join Black-identifying student groups, and discover ways to get involved.
- Community Activities – Engage in activities that help you connect with other Black students, staff, and faculty.

Month of Welcome Programming
Join us throughout September as we welcome you into the Black Student Space! With weekly activities like community breakfasts, game nights, reflection activities, and opportunities to meet the BSS advisors, the Month of Welcome is a chance to meet new people, build community, and learn about the resources available to you on campus.
